U.S. construction coalition pushes back against OSHA on proposed jobsite illumination repeal

Construction associations oppose OSHA’s move to rescind jobsite lighting requirements, citing safety risks and cost uncertainty.
A coalition of U.S. construction trade groups led by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America has urged OSHA to retain existing jobsite illumination standards, warning that repealing codified lighting rules could increase slips, trips and falls and raise insurance and legal costs for contractors. OSHA argues citations for poor lighting are rare and wants to align standards with deregulatory policy.
