Mutual fund houses increased their cash holdings significantly during 2025, reflecting cautious deployment amid market volatility. Industry cash balances rose by over ₹14,500 crore to approximately ₹2.01 lakh crore by November. Asset managers such as PPFAS and Quant accounted for a large share of additions, while five new asset management companies commenced operations during the year.
