India’s power distribution utilities collectively recorded a net profit of Rs 2,701 crore in fiscal year 2024–25, reversing years of losses that followed sector restructuring. The Ministry of Power attributed the turnaround to sustained reforms, reduced technical and commercial losses, and improved cost recovery. Aggregate losses and outstanding dues have declined, indicating strengthened financial performance for the distribution segment.
