India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) closed out 2025 with unprecedented transaction volumes and values, highlighting its central role in the country’s digital economy. In December, UPI processed around 21.6 billion transactions worth nearly ₹28 lakh crore, marking the highest monthly figures ever recorded. For the full year, the platform logged about 228 billion transactions valued at nearly ₹300 lakh crore, driven by widespread adoption among consumers and merchants in both urban and smaller towns.
