India–Israel FTA discussions progress as both nations sign ToRs to begin formal negotiations
A proposed free trade agreement between India and Israel advanced on November 20 as both countries signed terms of reference to begin formal negotiations. Israeli Economy Minister Nir Barkat stated that the FTA could expand bilateral trade, encourage new investments and create additional opportunities for companies in both markets. He noted that sensitive sectors will be excluded from negotiations and highlighted growing interest among Israeli firms to establish subsidiaries in India. Bilateral merchandise trade reached $3.62 billion in 2024–25, with exports from India falling 52% and imports declining 26.2% during the period.
