India Faces Lower AI Job Disruption Risk Compared With Western Economies

India is comparatively less exposed to AI-driven disruption of cognitive and white collar jobs than Western nations, according to IT Secretary S Krishnan. He explained that the country’s lower proportion of white collar roles and strong STEM employment base reduce immediate displacement risk, even as AI reshapes work. Krishnan highlighted that the most significant impact will come from building and deploying sector specific AI tools, which will create demand for trained professionals.
