Higher US tariffs disrupt Indian fox nut export momentum
Steep US tariffs sharply reduced Indian fox nut exports, forcing producers to pivot toward rapidly growing domestic demand to stabilise revenues.
Indian fox nut exporters are facing significant disruption after the United States imposed a 50% tariff on selected Indian goods. According to industry estimates, fox nut exports to the US have declined nearly 40%, even as India’s overall exports to the US grew about 20% in November 2025. The fox nut industry generates roughly ₹3.6 billion annually, with the US accounting for nearly half of export demand.
