India’s October CPI Falls to 5.04 Percent as Food Inflation Moderates to 6.2 Percent
India’s headline CPI dropped to 5.04 percent in October as food prices softened, likely keeping RBI rates unchanged and aiding consumer spending.
India’s consumer price index inflation eased to 5.04 percent in October 2025, the lowest level since January, according to official data from the National Statistical Office. Food inflation slowed to 6.2 percent from 7.3 percent in September, driven by price corrections in vegetables and edible oils. Core inflation remained steady at 4.3 percent. Economists believe the cooling trend strengthens the RBI’s case to maintain policy rates through Q4 FY26.

The fall in inflation is expected to support consumption ahead of the festive season and bolster real income growth for urban households.
