Alaska Air Group to audit IT systems after global outage paralysed flights

Alaska Air Group announced it will partner with Accenture plc to audit its IT infrastructure after a global cloud-platform outage grounded over 400 of its flights and disrupted services for more than 49,000 passengers. The incident was triggered by a failure in a major cloud provider’s platform, exposing systemic risks in airline operations. Alaska also said it will update its Q4 profit-forecast in December, once the full impact of disruptions and cancellations is assessed. The event adds to concerns about airlines' operational dependencies on cloud-platform stability.
