Samsung posts record memory-chip revenue and plans major HBM capacity expansion to meet booming AI-hardware demand.
Samsung Electronics saw record quarterly revenue from its memory-chip business, reporting an 80 % year-on-year operating profit increase to 7 trillion won (~US$4.92 billion) in Q3, driven by demand for high-bandwidth memory chips used in AI-hardware. The South Korean tech giant said it expects customer demand to outstrip supply even after planned capacity expansion and will focus on next-generation HBM4 production next year. Shares in the company rose over 5 % after the results, signalling renewed investor confidence in its semiconductors business and the wider AI-infrastructure cycle.
