AI enters public health in Punjab: over 700 suspected stroke patients screened

Punjab launches AI screening for strokes; 700+ scans done and 6 high-risk patients treated.
Punjab has rolled out an AI-driven stroke detection programme across district hospitals (Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Sangrur) and CMC Ludhiana. To date, over 700 suspected stroke cases underwent CT scans instantly analyzed via Qure.ai’s AI engine. Results are sent to neurologists at the central hub who guide local care. Six severe cases underwent mechanical thrombectomy free of cost—procedures otherwise costing ₹5–6 lakh. The state plans to scale this model statewide. (Times of India)
