Moody’s projects 6.5% annual growth for India’s economy through 2027

Moody’s Investors Service has forecast that India’s economy will grow at an average real rate of 6.5% per annum through 2027, citing strong infrastructure spending and resilient consumption despite weak business capital investment. The agency noted that while private-sector capex remains cautious, government expenditure and services momentum underpin the outlook. Moody’s emphasised that export weakness and global trade headwinds are key risks. 

The forecast reinforces India’s status as one of the fastest-growing major economies and increases pressure for structural reforms to sustain growth beyond the near term.
